1967 Gretsch limited edition Chet Atkins model Nashville with painted F-holes
This orange wood-tone beauty is original stock with all gold hardware and gold commemorative plaque, a pick guard with ol Chet's signature, a bixby tailpiece tremelo and the famous snap-on "potholder" padding on the back, which Gretsch added to many of its 60s models (to protect the finish from all of those satellite dish-sized belt buckles worn by most country singers).
This guitar has never been used live with Cracker although it has made a few rare appearances on deep twangy Cracker recordings like "Dixie Babylon" from The Golden Age, "Lonesome Johnny Blues" from Kerosene Hat, and "Sunday Train," which was released as a B-side from the Kerosene Hat sessions.
Johnny received this rare guitar as a gift from his younger brother Matt, who got an outrageous deal on it. (Seems it had been stored in a closet since the late 60s and is now worth around ten times the amount that Johnny's wheeler-dealer brother acquired it for in 1985.)
